They came for theme fixes. We stayed fourteen months.
Pipers Farm arrived with a short list: optimise the checkout, fix some theme problems. That turned into two migrations delivered in two months, a loyalty programme, a feedback app, and a maintenance relationship that ran for over a year.
A short list that turned out to have a platform underneath it.
The ask was checkout optimisation and a set of theme fixes. Sensible, contained, the sort of engagement that lasts a few weeks. What made it bigger was not scope creep on our side; it was that the store was sitting on Shopify’s legacy foundations while Shopify was moving the ground underneath it.
Their theme predated Online Store 2.0, and their checkout was still the old Liquid one that Shopify had already set an end date on. Optimising either without moving both would have been work with a short shelf life, and we said so rather than doing the contained version and invoicing for it.
Both migrations were delivered in two months. The maintenance contract that followed ran for fourteen, which is the part that says more about the work than the two months does.
The business traded as Pipers Farm throughout, and rebranded to Edenmoor after our engagement ended. That rename was not our project.
Five workstreams over the engagement
Paying for feedback with a discount, at the moment it is cheapest to give
Most feedback tooling asks days later, by email, when the customer has moved on and the answer is a rating with no detail behind it. The checkout feedback app we built asks in the flow and pays for the answer with a discount on the next order.
Two things make that a good trade. The response rate is higher, because the customer is already there and the incentive is immediate. And the discount only costs anything if they come back, which means the mechanism that captures the feedback is the same one that brings the order.
Two months of migration, fourteen months of trust
A client who arrives for theme fixes and keeps you on maintenance for over a year has told you something no conversion figure would.
“The DaaS Labs provides development support for over a year and has been exceptional to work with.”
